— ABOUT URBAN ENTERPRISE
Our Story.
Urban Media Ventures was born from a simple but powerful belief: stories can change what people believe is possible.
— ABOUT URBAN ENTERPRISE
Meet the Founder.
Kim Anthony believes that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. Through media, education, and community-building, she connects people to the knowledge, relationships, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.

For our founder, that belief began early. As a foster child, she found refuge in the library, spending hours poring over magazines—not only to better understand the world around her, but to discover worlds beyond it. Every page revealed new ideas, new voices, new places, and new possibilities. Media became more than information. It became a window, a teacher, and a quiet invitation to imagine a different future.
That experience shaped the heart of Urban Media Ventures.
We believe media should do more than report what happened. It should illuminate what is possible. It should connect people to knowledge, resources, relationships, and opportunities. It should tell stories that strengthen communities, expand horizons, celebrate excellence, and help people see themselves as builders of the future.
Urban Media Ventures exists to create and grow media platforms that uplift underrepresented voices, spotlight everyday leaders, and advance inclusive prosperity. Through business, leadership, philanthropy, excellence, and community-centered storytelling, we produce content that informs, inspires, and opens doors.
Our work is grounded in Opportunity Journalism — the belief that news, stories, and media can be a bridge between people and possibility.
We tell the stories of entrepreneurs building businesses, leaders shaping communities, nonprofits solving problems, elders carrying wisdom, women creating impact, and everyday unicorns doing extraordinary things with courage, creativity, and purpose.
Because when people see possibility, they move differently.
- They dream bigger.
- They build stronger.
- They lead better.
- They reach further.
Urban Media Ventures is here to create media that helps people see what is possible — and gives communities the visibility, information, and inspiration to make it real.

Kim Anthony
Founder & CEO, Urban Enterprise, Inc.
Kim Anthony is an entrepreneur, publisher, educator, and community builder dedicated to expanding economic mobility and helping people transform their gifts, talents, and ideas into thriving enterprises.
As Founder and CEO of Urban Enterprise, Kim leads a growing ecosystem of media platforms, educational programs, leadership initiatives, and community networks designed to connect people to the knowledge, relationships, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. Her work is rooted in a simple belief: talent is universal, but access is not.
Kim's journey began far from boardrooms and conference stages. A former foster youth who emancipated from the system as a teenager, she experienced firsthand the barriers that prevent many talented individuals from reaching their full potential.
Those experiences shaped a lifelong commitment to creating pathways of opportunity for others—particularly entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, women, and historically underserved communities.
Over the course of her career, Kim has helped launch and strengthen hundreds of nonprofit organizations, supported the development of countless entrepreneurs and community leaders, and helped secure millions of dollars in funding for mission-driven initiatives.
Her work spans entrepreneurship, leadership development, nonprofit capacity building, workforce development, civic engagement, and transformational education.
Today, Kim serves as the Founder of Urban Enterprise and Publisher of the Urban Business Journal, where she champions stories, strategies, and solutions that advance economic mobility and inclusive prosperity.
Through Urban Enterprise, she oversees initiatives focused on business and economic development, philanthropy, leadership, civic engagement, and human potential—creating a comprehensive ecosystem that empowers individuals and organizations to grow, lead, and contribute at higher levels.
A respected speaker and facilitator, Kim is known for her ability to bridge inspiration with practical action. Her approach combines entrepreneurial thinking, leadership development, community impact, and personal transformation, helping individuals move from possibility to progress and from vision to execution.
At the heart of Kim's work is a belief that enterprise is bigger than business. It is the courageous act of creating something meaningful—whether building a company, leading a nonprofit, serving a community, developing one's potential, or pursuing a calling.
Through Urban Enterprise, she is committed to helping people build lives, organizations, and communities that flourish.
Kim's mission is clear: to create a world where opportunity is more accessible, prosperity is more inclusive, and every person has the support they need to transform potential into impact.

“Brilliance is everywhere, but access is not. Entrepreneurs and community leaders come from many starting points, and Urban Enterprise exists to help close that gap.”
4 Myths About Entrepreneurship
-
Myth 1: Entrepreneurs are born, not made
Reality: Entrepreneurship is a learned skill. With the right education, coaching, and support, people from all backgrounds can build successful ventures.
-
Myth 2: You need significant capital to get started
Many successful ventures don’t begin with big money — they begin with clarity, discipline, and proof of concept. You start by validating your idea, serving real customers, and generating early revenue using what you already have. Grants, loans, and investors generally come after you’ve shown traction — not before. Start small, keep costs lean, reinvest as you grow, and let momentum fund the next step.
-
Myth 3: Entrepreneurship is a lonely solo journey
Reality: The most sustainable ventures are built in community. Mentorship, peer support, and networks dramatically increase long-term success.
-
Myth 4: Entrepreneurship isn’t for people from under-resourced communities
Reality: Talent and ideas exist everywhere. What’s often missing is access. Urban Enterprise exists to help close that gap.
