Journalism should leave people better than it found them.
As a kid in the foster care system, I found refuge in the library, spending hours pouring over books and magazines. They helped me understand the world around me while revealing a world of possibilities beyond it. Every page expanded my imagination and showed me that a different future was possible.
Those experiences shaped my belief in the transformative power of journalism and media. Stories don't just report what is—they reveal what could be. Urban Media Ventures exists to create media that expands horizons, inspires possibility, and connects people to opportunities that transform lives and strengthen communities.
