— ABOUT URBAN MEDIA VENTURES

Our Mission.

Urban Media Ventures exists to create media that expands possibility, strengthens communities, and connects people to opportunity.

— ABOUT URBAN ENTERPRISE

Meet the Founder.

Kim Anthony believes that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. Through media, education, and community-building, she connects people to the knowledge, relationships, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.

We believe stories are more than content. Stories shape what people see, what they believe, and what they are willing to pursue. When people see themselves, their communities, their businesses, their leadership, and their potential reflected with dignity and excellence, something powerful happens: possibility becomes visible.

Our mission is to build media platforms that inform, inspire, and open doors.

Through business journalism, leadership storytelling, community-centered media, cultural coverage, and opportunity-focused content, we spotlight the people, organizations, and ideas moving communities forward. We are especially committed to elevating underrepresented voices, everyday leaders, entrepreneurs, nonprofit builders, women, elders, and changemakers whose stories too often go unseen.

At the heart of our work is Opportunity Journalism — the belief that media should not only report what is happening, but help people understand how they can participate, benefit, grow, lead, and build from it.

We create media that connects people to:

Knowledge that helps them make informed decisions.
Resources that help them move forward.
Relationships that help them grow.
Visibility that helps them be seen.
Opportunities that help them thrive.

Urban Media Ventures is committed to using media as a bridge between information and transformation. Our work celebrates excellence, reveals possibility, builds community trust, and helps create pathways to inclusive prosperity.

We do not simply tell stories.

We create platforms where stories become access, visibility becomes power, and possibility becomes movement.

Kim Anthony
Founder & CEO, Urban Enterprise, Inc.

Kim Anthony is an entrepreneur, publisher, educator, and community builder dedicated to expanding economic mobility and helping people transform their gifts, talents, and ideas into thriving enterprises.

As Founder and CEO of Urban Enterprise, Kim leads a growing ecosystem of media platforms, educational programs, leadership initiatives, and community networks designed to connect people to the knowledge, relationships, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. Her work is rooted in a simple belief: talent is universal, but access is not.

Kim's journey began far from boardrooms and conference stages. A former foster youth who emancipated from the system as a teenager, she experienced firsthand the barriers that prevent many talented individuals from reaching their full potential.

Those experiences shaped a lifelong commitment to creating pathways of opportunity for others—particularly entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, women, and historically underserved communities.

Over the course of her career, Kim has helped launch and strengthen hundreds of nonprofit organizations, supported the development of countless entrepreneurs and community leaders, and helped secure millions of dollars in funding for mission-driven initiatives.

Her work spans entrepreneurship, leadership development, nonprofit capacity building, workforce development, civic engagement, and transformational education.

Today, Kim serves as the Founder of Urban Enterprise and Publisher of the Urban Business Journal, where she champions stories, strategies, and solutions that advance economic mobility and inclusive prosperity.

Through Urban Enterprise, she oversees initiatives focused on business and economic development, philanthropy, leadership, civic engagement, and human potential—creating a comprehensive ecosystem that empowers individuals and organizations to grow, lead, and contribute at higher levels.

A respected speaker and facilitator, Kim is known for her ability to bridge inspiration with practical action. Her approach combines entrepreneurial thinking, leadership development, community impact, and personal transformation, helping individuals move from possibility to progress and from vision to execution.

At the heart of Kim's work is a belief that enterprise is bigger than business. It is the courageous act of creating something meaningful—whether building a company, leading a nonprofit, serving a community, developing one's potential, or pursuing a calling.

Through Urban Enterprise, she is committed to helping people build lives, organizations, and communities that flourish.

Kim's mission is clear: to create a world where opportunity is more accessible, prosperity is more inclusive, and every person has the support they need to transform potential into impact.

“Brilliance is everywhere, but access is not. Entrepreneurs and community leaders come from many starting points, and Urban Enterprise exists to help close that gap.”

4 Myths About Entrepreneurship

  • Myth 1: Entrepreneurs are born, not made

Reality: Entrepreneurship is a learned skill. With the right education, coaching, and support, people from all backgrounds can build successful ventures.

  • Myth 2: You need significant capital to get started

Many successful ventures don’t begin with big money — they begin with clarity, discipline, and proof of concept. You start by validating your idea, serving real customers, and generating early revenue using what you already have. Grants, loans, and investors generally come after you’ve shown traction — not before. Start small, keep costs lean, reinvest as you grow, and let momentum fund the next step.

  • Myth 3: Entrepreneurship is a lonely solo journey

Reality: The most sustainable ventures are built in community. Mentorship, peer support, and networks dramatically increase long-term success.

  • Myth 4: Entrepreneurship isn’t for people from under-resourced communities

Reality: Talent and ideas exist everywhere. What’s often missing is access. Urban Enterprise exists to help close that gap.
